NCEA’s major flaws – 29 Apr 2007 – NZ Herald: New Zealand…
New Zealand Herald – Apr 29, 2007
Te reo graphics physics history and calculus seem to be the most problematic subjects. In 2006 main points included:* Te reo teachers were reminded they had to mark and tally student work before handing out a grade: “This did not always occur and raised issues relating to the integrity of the assessor judgments. * They were also reminded that students should not be relying on cue cards in their spoken-language tests* Physics and chemistry teachers used assessment tasks straight from the Ministry of Education’s website which also provided model answers: “As students become more knowledgeable about the system they are recognising that these resources provide excellent revision material. ” * In all levels of history some markers simply ignored the marking schedule and gave out grades that were not deserved. * Many graphics teachers marked too generously and the review demanded “major changes”… * Science teachers gave too much direction to students during internal assessment making many marks invalid. * Fifteen per cent of science students skipped the questions on chemistry. * There was concern that in art history a lot of internal work was “closely drawn” from books or the internet. * Geography students were relying too heavily on the internet. * In virtually all subjects many teachers gave students outdated tests for their internal work and others used marking schedules that only vaguely related to the tasks set. At the flicksSome of the films studied by secondary English students:* nce Were Warriors* Schindler’s List* The Shawshank Redemption* The Pianist* Crash* The World’s Fastest Indian* Run Lola Run* Blade Runner* American Beauty* Gattaca* The Silence of the Lambs $(document).
Prose and Con: ‘The Music Man’ Comes Alive and That’s No…
Washington Post – Apr 29, 2007
The cast as a whole stayed focused and worked well together to give the feel of a small Midwestern town. Kurt Hoffman (Harold Hill) and Allison Kinney (Marian Paroo) both delivered strong performances. Hoffman had good chemistry with everyone on stage showing Hill’s desire to get close to the members of River City so they trust him and don’t suspect his foul play. He and Kinney worked particularly well together showing how their feelings for each other changed over the course of the show and how their characters had a positive effect on each other. In addition Kinney brought a lovely singing voice to the show that matched Marian’s old-fashioned personality. The barbershop quartet of B-Lam Ho Joe Scott Jim Smith and Daniel Gonzales were absolutely brilliant while bringing their harmonies to life in particular during “Lida Rose. ” Not only did they sound wonderful throughout the show and look as if they were four people functioning as one but had great comic timing with hilarious gestures that made the audience fall in love with their characters.
McMurray’s fortunes turn at Roush Fenway Racing – Racing
ESPN – Apr 29, 2007
It was frustrating and miserable no doubt about it. “I don’t know if I saved my job [but] I feel like I’m in a better position now than I’ve ever been. “The chemistry is so good on the No. 26 team that McMurray’s mother noticed it listening on the scanner from her son’s motorcoach at Las Vegas last month. “We were on the golf cart on the way to the helicopter pad” McMurray recalled. “She doesn’t usually say anything about racing. She said she couldn’t believe the difference in everyone’s personality just their behavior.
Finalist Essay: Buudoan Tran
New York Times – Apr 29, 2007
For my Vietnamese parents a teacher was the most valued player in their children’s future success but teaching was the least appropriate vocation for a son or daughter’s career. I had earned a full academic scholarship to the University of Georgia and the scholarship included a travel-study stipend that I pointedly did not use to work in a chemistry lab abroad. Instead I stumbled upon an opportunity to teach English to mentally and physically disabled children in the Albanian capital of Tirana. Skip to next paragraph Related.
Entourage: Gotcha!
TV Fodder – Apr 29, 2007
But I was kinda surprised they were still doing it the next day. Did anyone else see where Vince had his hand in the bathtub? And the scene over lunch was like E said: “A scene from a bad Meg Ryan movie. ” There is no denying that they have chemistry together. And according to some inside… Vince off the market? Say it ain’t so!!!5. I gotta say that both Piven and Perry Reeves have never looked so good. Usually nearly everytime they show Ari’s married life he is berating her so it’s nice that they actually have a nice sweet moment together and that they are still in love (and lust) with each other. Besides she looks damn good in that bra.
Laws of Attraction
TheCelebrityCafe.com – Apr 29, 2007
While in Ireland assessing their clients’ joint assets Moore and Brosnan accidentally get married despite their hatred for each other and position on opposing sides of a high-profile divorce case. But despite A-list actors and a highly successful formula Laws of Attraction fell on its face for several reasons. First Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore had no chemistry whatsoever. There were more sparks between Brosnan and Frances Fisher playing Moore’s mom. (In what world is Fisher old enough to be Moore’s mother?) I believed neither their hatredthe insults lacked force and convictionnor their romancecompletely contrived and trite. Secondly Parker Posey always a bit “off” in her roles (but usually charming) completely missed here. Her quirks were merely annoying even borderline-psychotic… And Michael Sheen was hardly believable as a rocker. He was better in Underworld a highly stylistic yet incredibly boring movie. Needless to say their chemistry was even more dismal than Moore and Brosnan’s. With all that you’re left with a deceptively alluring movie trailer surrounded by an hour of filler. Skip this one if you can help it. Written by: Katherine E. Webb Reviewers Rating: 2Reader’s Rating: 0Reader’s Votes: 0.
