Chemistry is a powerful thing. Two years ago the Rangers had it all the way up to the lympics and then either lost it or it lost its power. But Sather understandably believing that their Euro-chemistry was a big part of the 2005-06 Rangers’ stunning success decided not to make a big move at that trade deadline. The team continued to fade down the stretch and was swept in the first round of the playoffs. Last year the Rangers had little chemistry that anyone could see going into February. Sather dumped a catalytic agent named Sean Avery into the mix and ignited a thrilling stretch run that extended through a first-round sweep and crackling six-game conference semis. This year? The Rangers didn’t appear to have any chemistry for four months but have displayed some while going 10-3-2 in their last 15 games… But Sather understandably believing that their Euro-chemistry was a big part of the 2005-06 Rangers’ stunning success decided not to make a big move at that trade deadline.
