How much high school science did you take? Best subject?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch – Apr 21, 2008
Then we took Biology during the sophomore year; Chemistry junior year; Physics senior year. I didn’t especially enjoy any of them but they were required for graduation and so I had no choice! Biology was easiest followed by Chemistry then Physics. Biology has helped me the most in my chosen profession but then again Physics may have taught me how to think–like a scientific logic class. Though I didn’t necessarily do well in any of the three classes I now realize that just having studied them has made me a better educated person. — Ryan On The Euphonium 7:56 am April 22nd 2008 larry (#2) you must have attended a religious school in the St… — moe 7:57 am April 22nd 2008 High School? I scraped through Biology but I have no idea how I passed. That would have been my freshman year. When I showed up for Chemistry in my sophomore year I had the same teacher I had for Biology and wondered what I was in for. The answer was easy: I failed Chemistry. I tried the other teacher the second semester and failed again. No more science and no more math either after my sophomore year of high school. YUK! — Lee 8:14 am April 22nd 2008 I was always terrible at advanced math and needed a lot of help but took chemistry physics geology (earth science) and biology in high school and did pretty well in all of them.

White Sox lighten up and turn it around
USA Today – Apr 21, 2008
In spring training we built a ballclub to have fun and be together. I didn’t see that in the past and it makes my job easier to manage people when it’s like that — not having to be all over them every day. But pressed about whether positive chemistry breeds winning or winning breeds positive chemistry the verbose White Sox manager changes his tune. “Winning brings chemistry” he says. “When you’re losing sooner or later you’re going to hate each other. I don’t care how good of friends you’re going to have. That’s what happened to us last year… I don’t care how good of friends you’re going to have. That’s what happened to us last year. We had a great chemistry then all of a sudden it feels like the chemistry (was) not there. The return to health of players such as third baseman.

Drug discovery: high throughput matters.

Process chemistry the art of bulk synthesis of fine chemicals onthe ton scale for commercial products will enthuse those who enjoychemical design and careful optimisation to reduce costs byexperimentation and analysis. Both groups of chemists talk the same language but which is the correctcareer for those facing a choice? The development of ‘high throughput biologicalscreening’ the ability to test thousands of compounds in hoursand in recent times the pressures of increasing efficiency andeffectiveness found across the industry have led to a greater need forchemists in drug discovery to make more individual high puritysamples. Chemists in the industry have found year on year that they areexpected to make arrays of compounds from 10 to 200+ at a time inshorter time scales and also (hopefully) new candidate drugs fortesting in the clinic.

Agfa Graphics North America Announces GreenWorks¢ a Customer…
WebWire – WebWire (press release) – Apr 21, 2008
That program has evolved into GreenWorks and will go further toward helping Agfa’s customers maximize the results of their green efforts while giving Agfa a broader platform to spread the word about the need for environmental responsibility. To become part of Agfa’s GreenWorks program printing companies must be users of Agfa’s ThermoFuseTM platemaking technology. This includes the top-selling chemistry-free :Azura plate and the low-chemistry :Amigo plate both of which have significantly reduced the impact on the environment as compared to conventional digital or analog plates. In addition GreenWorks printers must also demonstrate that they active in other environmental initiatives as well as being involved in other efforts such as recycling reducing waste or using alternative energy sources in their plants. “For the graphic communications industry being green means developing new technologies adopting smarter policies for daily business operations and promoting environmental responsibility as broadly as possible so that others become involved” said Susan Wittner marketing director Agfa Graphics North America. “With the GreenWorks program we identify those print companies who have successfully adopted greener policies and should therefore be seen as leaders of true environmental responsibility. In addition we want to connect print buyers seeking environmentally sensitive printers with Agfa GreenWorks printers”Agfa provides all GreenWorks printers with a wide range of promotional materials to help them publicize their green initiatives.
