“It brought the team closer together. It is good to get to know our teammates better and will be beneficial for our team chemistry. ”The team chemistry has been central to the Ravens’ success this year as they are integrating 15 freshmen to a team led by six veteran seniors. “We were very pleased with how we played in Florida this year” said assistant coach Justin Bates. “We started as many as six freshmen in some games and I thought our team really gained a lot of valuable experience on the field. We have a good blend of freshmen and upperclassmen and the Florida trip was a chance for our team to spend a lot of time together bond and learn to play together before the conference part of our schedule.

n Friday Gonzaga will play North Carolina in the NCAA South Regional semifinals and try to take out a No. Heytvelt said that one word — chemistry — describes this team and gives it confidence going against one of college basketball’s most tradition-laden programs. “We’re a lot more together” Heytvelt said. “We’d all do anything for a different guy on the team. We all have each other’s backs. I think that’s something that keeps us so tight-knit and special and has helped us win a whole bunch of games this year.
