A big part of leadership is quashing such “me-first” attitudes. Another big part of leadership is holding teammates accountable which is also a big part of team chemistry. Team chemistry is often the most important (but overlooked) part of a winning team. If you have good team chemistry everyone is willing to do their job to make sure the team wins. If you have good leadership you have people who are able to hold everyone else accountable when they fail to do their job. ften the team leaders are your best players but they also have to be people who are willing to be vocal.

Refining a technique that allows the study of microscopic bitsof pigment Marco Leona of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NewYork was able to analyze the color of a fragment of leather from anancient Egyptian quiver. The discovery that the color was madder is the earliest evidencefor the complex chemical knowledge needed to extract the dye from aplant and turn it into a pigment Leona reports in last week’sedition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. The find is some 700 years earlier than any previously known useof madder which became highly popular in the Middle Ages andprovides many of the red shades and glazes in the work of the Dutchpainter Johannes Vermeer. “Tracing the use of organic colorants offers a way to followtrade routes identify relations among archaeological objectsdetect forgeries and attribute works of art” Leona wrote.
